Grill 2 Go is a secret shawarma/grilled meat shop on Upper James. No one has ever heard of it, they only have 7 reviews on Google. I think they must be new. The birth of a new shawarma place is always to be celebrated, let’s check it out!

The inside is clean and pretty minimal. The menu is clearly displayed and easy to read. The kitchen is closed off and you can’t see any of their food on display. And don’t let the name fool you, this place has tables and chairs.
The gentleman came out of the kitchen and greeted me. He was a friendly gentleman, I like him. He quickly took my order and headed back into the kitchen to work on it. After taking a few minutes to gaze out the window at Speedy Glass and Sampson Transmission, my order was ready for me.

This is a loose wrap, that’s for sure. I’m not even sure you can call it a wrap because the two sides don’t even meet. Almost like a soft shawarma taco. Taste-wise it isn’t bad. The ingredients play well together. The chicken has a deep flavour. Tangy, almost olive-like in a way. It’s a bit light on the sauces, but from what I could pick up they were nice. As I ate it, the tight grip required to keep it from falling apart started to take it’s toll, and the pita began to fall apart.
I’m still going to give Grill 2 Go my recommendation. It’s always good to see a new guy. I saw another customer’s chicken and rice, it looked very good. I think I’ll try that next time. As for the wrap, I’m going to give it a 6/10.
